Semiconductor saturable absorber is a semiconductor material that exhibits special saturation absorption characteristics in optics. It is commonly used in laser technology as a component for generating ultra short pulse lasers or regulating optical pulses. The working principle of semiconductor saturable absorbers is based on their nonlinear optical properties. Under low light intensity, semiconductor saturable absorbers exhibit high absorption characteristics and can absorb most of the energy emitted. Semiconductor saturable absorber is often used in mode locked lasers, modulated Pulsed laser, ultrafast laser systems and other applications. It can provide peak power, narrow pulse width, and stable pulse output, and has important application value. Different types of semiconductor materials with saturable absorbers include germanium, gallium arsenide, germanium arsenide, etc. The specific selection depends on factors such as application requirements and working wavelength.
